Where we work

Knoxville houses, era by era

Every neighborhood here was built in a different decade, and the bathrooms show it. We've opened enough Knoxville walls to know what's waiting behind each kind — and we quote with that knowledge, not against it.

1900s–1930s Fort Sanders & Old North Victorian-era houses, original cast iron stacks and galvanized supply lines. We plan the plumbing before demo day, so the quote already covers it.
1920s–1950s Sequoyah Hills & Island Home Colonials, Cape Cods and early ranches — original tile, narrow doorways, radiator heat. Careful demo matters more here than anywhere else in town.
1950s–1970s Fountain City & Bearden The classic Knoxville ranch hall bath: 5-foot tub, 4-inch tile, one window. The single most common remodel we do — and the fastest.
1980s–2000s Farragut & Hardin Valley Builder-grade baths hitting the age where acrylic inserts fail and cultured marble dates the room. Prime candidates for a full refresh.
All eras Maryville, Oak Ridge & Powell We run one crew, so we keep the radius honest — close enough that the same faces show up every morning until your bathroom is done.
Worth knowing Hard water country East Tennessee sits on limestone, and KUB water carries the minerals to prove it. We spec glass coatings and fixtures that shrug off scale.

Know your neighborhood? So do we.

House rules

Three rules this shop is built on

  • The quote is the bill.

Itemized after a real walkthrough, then honored. Anything unforeseen gets shown to you, priced separately and decided by you — never slipped in.

  • The schedule is a promise.

You get a start date and a finish date in writing. If a delay ever comes, you hear it from us the day we know — with the new date attached.

  • We finish. Completely.

Caulk lines, grout haze, the cabinet door that rubs — the job isn't done until the last small thing is. Then we walk it with you before we bill.

Those rules apply to your bathroom too.

Questions Knoxville actually asks us

How long does a bathroom remodel take in Knoxville?

A full remodel of one bathroom usually runs about three weeks from demo to final walkthrough. A tub-to-shower conversion is faster — most take around five working days. We put the schedule in writing with the quote, and if something behind the wall changes it, you hear about it that day, not at the end.

Does the quote change once the work starts?

Not without your signature. The quote we write after the walkthrough is itemized, and it's the number we bill. If we open a wall and find something genuinely unforeseeable — rot, a corroded supply line — we stop, show you, price the fix separately and let you decide. That's the whole system. No surprise line items at the end.

Do I need a permit to remodel a bathroom in Knoxville?

If plumbing or wiring moves, yes — the City of Knoxville requires a separate plumbing permit and electrical permit, each with its own inspection. We pull them on every job that needs them and we schedule the inspections. You never have to chase the city yourself.

Can you convert my tub to a walk-in shower in the same footprint?

In most Knoxville homes, yes. The standard 5-foot tub alcove in a ranch hall bath converts to a walk-in shower without moving walls. If the drain has to move — common when going curbless — that's in the quote from day one, not discovered later.

Two sentences is plenty — which bathroom, roughly what you want done. We'll call to set up a free walkthrough, then put a written, itemized quote in your hands. No pressure after that; the quote's yours either way.
